October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, but every month there should be awareness.  Breast Cancer knows no boundaries with race, age or even gender.  It's important to keep raising awareness to save lives.

According to the American Cancer Society, about 1 in 8 women in the United States will develop invasive breast cancer. Invasive meaning the potential to spread and cause harm, and in the case of breast cancer it can spread to the lymph nodes and other areas of the body. With more than 3.5 million American women having a history of breast cancer at the start of 2020, and estimated that more than 276, 000 new cases are expected to be diagnosed, early detection is extremely important.

The good news is when breast cancer is detected early in a localized stage, the 5-year relative survival rate is 99%. Do regular self exams at home every month. Having regular checkups and screening tests / mammograms can be lifesaving. Don't let the COVID-19 Pandemic stop you from getting your yearly checkup / screening. It's important to talk with your doctor / healthcare professional to schedule / reschedule them. More here.

Medical News Today has released a guide to 9 of the most common signs of breast cancer. It's blowing up on social media. Trending on Twitter. Keep sharing with others to continue raising awareness to Save Lives!
