Hurricane Laura made landfall as a category 4 hurricane in Louisianna early Thursday morning (8/27) creating widespread damage. Causing over 580,000 coastal residents under evacuation orders with many in the Austin area. Many cities / communities in Louisianna, Texas and beyond, that landed in Hurricane Laura's path, have been hit hard with devistation. Leaving behind survivors in need of help and support. As thoughts go out to all who have been affected by Hurricane Laura, here are ways to Help!

Ways to Get Help!

SNAP Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program 

  • Recipients in Texas, who lost food due to Hurricane Laura, to apply for replacement benefits over the phone.  Applications can be submitted by calling 211 (KXAN)

American Red Cross Central and South Texas Region

  • Donations Ways to help.

  • Volunteers are needed

Austin Disaster Relief Network 

  • Help with care kits. Items requested include bath towels and shampoo to help those who may have lost everything.

  • Making a donation to help provide safe shelter and care.
  • Open your home and adopt an animal (you can also foster to adopt!). Adoption fees are currently just $20.

  • Fosters for furbabies needed.

  • With donations made to this fundraiser, GoFundMe.org, the nonprofit and charitable arm of GoFundMe, will issue grants to individuals, organizations, and communities that have either been impacted themselves or are dedicated to helping those affected by hurricanes.
