Dog of the Week:
Pip
9 Month Old
Mixed Breed

(photo above)

Meet Pip our #dogoftheweek! Pip is a 9 month old female mixed breed and what a pip she is! You'd be hard pressed to find a more affectionate, people loving dog at AHS right now. We think she'd make a fabulous companion dog and is a great size, just over 40 pounds, to fit into any home. Pip would do best in a home as the only pet so that she can soak up all of your attention! She walks great on leash and will make a really awesome hiking buddy. You can meet Pip at AHS today.

Cat of the Week:
Jackson
5 Year Old
Domestic Shorthair

Check out this handsome five year-old Domestic Shorthair, Jackson! Jackson loves petting; he will relax as he purrs and “makes biscuits” with his front paws. Jackson will even roll over to expose his tummy for rubs. Also, Jackson loves treats! He can be a bit shy at times and will hid under a blanket, box, or bed until he's ready to get some attention. A quiet and calm house without younger children, would probably be best for this charmer, and will help him adjust and learn to feel safe. Jackson came to us already declawed. This means he will need to be an indoor only cat. Have space in your home and heart? Come Meet Jackson!

Senior Spotlight:
Chica
12 Year Old
Chihuahua

Have you ever seen a more adorable Senior? Meet Chica, a twelve year old, nine pound Chihuahua. Chica lost her longtime home a few months back and is currently living with one of our fosters. She tells us Chica is a star! She loves getting out and meeting other animals, taking in the sights and sounds, and just being around people. She has lots of energy for a lady her age!  Chica has lived with other dogs, a cat, and even a bird. She gets along beautifully with all of them!  Like most Seniors, Chica would do best in a quieter home with older children who will respect her need for space and give her some down time. She has lost all of her teeth due to prior dental illness but has a healthy appetite and eats softer food very well. When she’s not out and about, Chica loves to snuggle on the couch, often burying her head under the pillows. In order to find this sweet senior a home more quickly we are waiving her adoption fee! If you’re ready to meet this sweet senior, email us at fostercare@austinhumanesociety.org to set up meet and greet with Chica.
