Big Thanks from AHS, APA & AAC for all the public Love & Support last weekend with all their shelters filling up!

Incredible Response to Emergency Call
"All of us at the Austin Humane Society are humbled and grateful for the incredible support we've seen since issuing an emergency call for help last week.

You, our tremendous supporters, stepped up to adopt, foster, and make donations to ensure AHS could continue to support our city partners and ease overcrowding. It was a similar story at the Austin Animal Center and Austin Pets Alive! and by Monday, the three shelters had placed nearly 600 animals into loving homes!

While the three shelters are no longer at capacity, the threat of overcrowding continues as we near the July 4th holiday - one of the biggest days for lost pets. That is why AHS leadership remains in constant communication with our city partners and is continuing to pull animals from the Center to free up additional space. In addition, AHS has received calls to pull animals from other area partners facing space issues and we will be working to help as we are able.

While hundreds of animals are waking up in new homes this morning, others are still waiting. If you've considered adding a cat or dog to your family, please stop by the shelter this week to open your heart and home. Thank you again for your generosity and support. Hundreds of animals are getting their second chances because of you!"

Cat of the Week:
Domestic Shorthair

(photo above)

Meet Socks, a 13-year-old, Domestic Shorthair kitty who is ready to find love. Her favorite hobbies are rolling around in a sunbeam, teasing small dogs, and sitting on the back of your chair while you watch TV. Socks is very affectionate, loves scratches, and sitting on laps. Socks has lived with other cats, dogs, and kids. She does well with all of them! This sweet girl is spayed, microchipped, and current on vaccinations. Her adoption fee is $85. Come Meet Socks!

Dog of the Week:
Sugar Plum
Mixed Breed

Meet Sugar Plum, the Austin Humane Society's Dog of the Week! This pretty princess is a 4-year-old mixed breed who’s highly affectionate, well trained and people-oriented. Sugar Plum loves to romp around with toys and tennis balls but is just as happy to snuggle up by your side for a belly rub. She knows all kinds of commands, poses perfectly for pictures, and has the most beautiful smile (with a personality to match!). Sugar Plum is sweet as can be to everyone she meets but will do best as the only pet in the home. She is house- and crate-trained, spayed, microchipped and up-to-date on vaccines, with an adoption fee of just $85. Meet Sugar Plum Today

Senior Spotlight:
Catahoula Leopard Dog

We're shining spotlight on one of our longest stay pups this week, Oscar, an exceptionally handsome 5-year-old Catahoula Leopard Dog.  Oscar is incredibly smart and knows several commands including Sit and Shake!  He'll make a great hiking buddy and loves the great outdoors. Who's up for an adventure? While he's got plenty of energy to go on a walk or hike, he also loves to relax. If you're looking for a couch companion on those rainy days - Oscar is ready to join you! Oscar is neutered, up to date on his vaccinations and microchipped. He's ready to find his home and is available for adoption or foster to adopt, so you can take him home for a two-week trial period to make sure he's the right fit! Meet Oscar Today!
