The Feast of Sharing Thanksgiving Tradition continues in ATX / Texas

See what an average Feast of Sharing dinner serves.

November 22, 2019

H-E-B continues their tradition of Feast of Sharing for this 2019 Thanksgiving holiday season. It started in 1989, making this year the 30th Anniversary of 33 Feasts that are shared in ares of Texas and Mexico. Imagine if an empty cart represented an empty tummy. Well here is how much food is prepared to fill empty tummies during an average Feast of Sharing  Dinner:

  • 3,000 pounds of sliced turkey
  • 2,500 pound of cornbread dressing
  • 750 pumpkin pies
  • 380 gallons of mashed potatoes
  • 140 gallons of turkey gravy

A Feast of Sharing thanks to H-E-B fills lots of tummies putting Thanksgiving Happy into a soul. In the Austin area, up to13,000 guests are expected. That's 13,000 tummies that come as families and friends to share a meal together w / no worries on how they will pay for it. The H-E-B Feast of Sharing invites everyone to their holiday dinner table. It's an important part of H-E-B’s Food Bank Assistance Program, which works year-round to prevent hunger. Cooking, serving & cleaning up is taken care of by MANY H-E-B employees / volunteers.
