Veterans Day Weekend take some time to Remember & Honor our Veterans. Thank You for Your Service!  Here are some ways & events you can show Big Love to our ATX/ Central Texas Veterans this weekend. Sunday, November 11 is Veterans DayMonday, November 12, Veterans Day is being observed as a Federal Holiday.

8 Ways You Can Honor Veterans:

  1. Attend a Veterans Day event in your area - suggestions below
  2. Make a Donation to help w/ the care of our Veterans - Click here
  3. Fly a Flag correctly - U.S. Flag Code
  4. Ask a Veteran about their service 
  5. Send a Veteran a card / e-card
  6. Veterans Day is not Memorial Day. Veterans Day is a time to thank those who are serving or have served and are still with us. 
  7. Visit a VA hospital in your area
  8. National Parks have free admission on Veterans Day. Enjoy a day in the park w/ a Veteran. Sunday, November 11. 

Veterans Day Weekend Events:

  • TownLake YMCA Veterans & Thanksgiving Potluck Friday (11/09) 11:00 AM – 12:30 PM  at the Townlake YMCA lobby. Bring a dish you can share! Register &  more info
  • 3rd Annual Accenture McEvoy Memorial Walk  Saturday (11/10). This walk will help the Veterans who valiantly served our country, and those who are currently serving. Thanking them for their tremendous service. More here.

    Location : Lady Bird Lake Near Chin Up Bars Under 1st Street Bridge  Austin, TX 
    Supporting :Merivis Foundation for Veterans & the Capital Area Young Marines.
  • Austin Veterans Parade kicks off Sunday morning (11/11) at 9 am on Congress Ave. This year is the 100th Anniversary of the end of World War I. Find out lots more here.

  • Run for the Flag 2018 The race is a USATF sanctioned event with certified 10k & 5k courses. Featuring different race categories, including: Wheelchair, Active, Retired and Reserve Duty, Youth, and the Community. ***Everyone MUST BRING Picture ID for Entrance into Camp Mabry***
