Sean Mack's Movie Review: "Us"

Scares aplenty!

March 25, 2019

One of the most anticipated movies of 2019 was "Us", Jordan Peele's follow-up to the Oscar award-winning "Get Out".  The movie even made its world premiere in Austin to open South By Southwest, and it opened nationwide over the weekend.

My girlfriend and I went to see it on Saturday night.  It’s REALLY good.  It’s a lot like “Get Out” in terms of things not being exactly what they seem on the surface.  However, it’s definitely scarier-it’s more of a traditional horror film in that aspect.  There’s a lot of violence and moments of dread for the main characters.  The best part about it is all the little easter eggs scattered throughout the movie that won’t make sense until you see the ending.  We spent a couple of hours after the movie looking online for all the things we missed along the way.  It will be a great movie for repeat viewings, kind of like “Fight Club” or “The Sixth Sense”.  Go see it and tell me what you thought!  Oh, and one final thing-props to Lupita Nyong’o, she’s great in this and her facial expressions(especially her eyes) REALLY sell you on how scary things are in the movie.
