Sean Mack's ATX Adventures: Hamilton Pool

The ultimate Texas watering hole.

June 25, 2018

Since I moved to Austin, i've been to all sorts of bodies of water in the area.  Lakes, pools, beaches, watering holes, the list goes on.  However, I still had yet to visit the ultimate Texas watering hole.  You know, the one that always shows up on Facebook and Instagram with captions like "I can't believe this is in Texas" or "#summergoals".  The elusive Hamilton Pool Preserve.  Why did it take so long?  Well as you probably know, you have to make a reservation weeks in advance.  On March 31st, I had my reservation.  On Sunday, ny number was up.  Let's go!

Once you get there, you have to hike about a quarter of a mile down.  You can take a walking stick if you want.

The trail itself is beautiful as well.  Lots of shade on a summer day, too.

After a few minutes, you arrive.  It really is like a tropical oasis in the middle of the woods.

There are several waterfalls flowing, it sounds like a relaxing spa.  The only bad thing about my visit was the was closed for swimming sue to high levels of bacteria.  I guess i'll have to go back for the swimming!

This is the most beautiful place i've seen in Texas.  I can't wait to go back!
